Keren Danielle – The Danielle Foundation
Established in memory of Danielle Sonnenfeld A”H
In her distinctly modest and unassuming manner, Danielle managed to uniquely combine her exceptional talents, good-heartedness and extreme humbleness and meaningfully influenced the lives of others.
Danielle was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and moved to Israel as a child. After completing her high school studies with high honors, Danielle chose to use her considerable talents by volunteering to help ease the suffering of pediatric oncology patients at Schneider Hospital – an endeavor she practiced with infinite dedication and wholehearted love until her last day. Danielle also volunteered in the northern Israeli city of Akko, helping to educate those with learning and behavioral problems, as well as “at risk” youth.
Buoyed by her experiences as a volunteer and recognizing the importance of infusing the healing profession with a true and unique compassion, love and human kindness, she began laying the seeds for a future life as a doctor.
Danielle was fully dedicated – in heart, body and soul – to her family, her friends and particularly to the lives and welfare of the children under her care at Schneider Hospital as well as in Akko; their pain was her pain, their suffering was her suffering and their hopes and dreams for the future were her hopes and dreams as well.
Unfortunately, Danielle’s own dreams were cut short in a tragic car accident while returning from her hospital volunteer work.
Danielle was a shining example of benevolence, empathy and dedication to those courageous children, breathing renewed vigor and strength to their struggles. And it is that fresh breath of life that has been taken from us.
As a natural outgrowth of Daneille’s own works, Danielle’s father, Mr. Elio Moti Sonnenfeld, established “Keren Danielle – The Danielle Foundation” in her memory, which has set goals of transforming Danielle’s natural benevolence and vision in the fields of health and education into a national mission, either by establishing new initiatives or by contributing to existing initiatives throughout Israel. In a low-key manner, the Foundation also provides assistance to individuals throughout Israeli society who may be experiencing difficult personal circumstances.
In only a few months since its creation, Keren Danielle – The Danielle Foundation has already participated in establishing and contributing to a numerous projects, some of which are described on this website.
May Danielle’s memory be blessed and a blessing for others.
